Synopsis
Arriving home from a pilgrim voyage, Sister Fidelma is told that her faithful Saxon companion, Brother Eadulf, has been found guilty of murdering a young girl. She hastens to the capital of the neighbouring kingdom of Laigin, where he is being held, determined to prove his innocence.
The evidence against Eadulf seems overwhelming; a terrible, sordid story of sex, shame and murder. Is it conceivable that Eadulf is actually guilty? Even Fidelma is forced to ask the question. She is desperately searching for the truth; a search that will inspire sheer terror as her toughest investigation yet leads to shocking revelations.
