Philipp Blom

Philipp Blom

Philipp Blom was born in Hamburg in 1970. After some years in Vienna, he moved to Oxford where he obtained a PhD in Jewish philosophy. He has worked in publishing and as a journalist and translator in both London and Paris. His novel The Simmons Papers was published in 1995 and his debut work of non-fiction, To Have and To Hold, delves into the history of collectors. His latest book Encyclopédie: The Triumph of Reason in an Unreasonable Age is the story of Diderot, d'Alembert and the Encyclopédie and was published in 2004. He lives in Vienna with his wife Veronica Buckley.
